A different league table — the one for the clubs’ digitalisation

We all know the financial trouble Romanian clubs are in — or where the money comes from, in the case of the ones doing well. And the clubs in the first group complain that merchandise, meaning tickets, season tickets and shirts, brings in too little to help the club in any real way.

Below is an objective audit of the digital platforms of Romania’s clubs. On the evidence of the scores, and of the experience a supporter is actually given, that small contribution to the team’s budget is entirely justified.

The table

Ranked by weighted score out of 100 — the five categories a club’s own site owns, re-weighted between themselves once the store is taken out. Each column shows what that category contributed out of its own weight, and the total is the sum of the columns. The store has its own table below. Each club name links to the site it was scored on.

Not verified means the criterion could not be tested, so it leaves this category’s denominator instead of being scored zero.

  • UI/UX impact20.1 / 26The best-built site in the audit, and the only one visibly designed for a football club.Suggestion: Do not change the look; put the missing information behind it.
  • Fixtures and match experience5.5 / 26Upcoming matches are not published, and the results are incomplete and reduced to a date: no kick-off time, no team names, no score and no round. No match has a page of its own, and there is no live information.Suggestion: Publish the upcoming matches, complete the results with a kick-off time, team names, the score and the round, and give every match a page.
  • Content and information11.9 / 19The table is not up to date, and the one in the side column is from last season’s play-out. The match against Rapid, played three days ago, does not show its score, and the date of the next match is not published.Suggestion: Update the table in the side column, and publish the last match’s score and the next match’s date.
  • Mobile app0.0 / 14The club publishes no application in either store.Suggestion: Start with an application that handles matchday: the ticket, the fixture, the result and the notification.
  • My Account0.0 / 15The site does not allow a supporter account to be created.Suggestion: Introduce a club account, used for the site, the shop and the tickets alike.
Online shop73.3 / 100The shop is well built and the only one that personalises a name, previewing it on the shirt during configuration. Only last season’s shirts are available.Suggestion: Update the shirts to the current season, and link the shop from the club’s site: no page on it points there today. The store is not part of the total above — it has its own table.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalMedium effortFixtures and match experience
There is no fixtures, results or standings section

The navigation offers Știri, Club, Echipa, Media, Academie, Socios, Ticketing, Voluntariat, Contact and Shop. No fixture list, results page or league table appears anywhere on the site.

Fix: Publish fixtures, results and the table. This is the reason most supporters open a club site.

  2. MediumMedium effortUI/UX impact
The homepage makes an unusual number of requests

A desktop load reached network idle after 265 requests and 3.4 seconds.

Fix: Audit the third-party scripts; the weight is not coming from the club's own content.

  3. MediumStrategic investmentOnline shop
The membership scheme cannot be joined online

Socios has its own statute, council, principles and a “Devino Membru” page, but joining and renewing happen off the website.

Fix: Put Socios sign-up and renewal on the site. The programme is the club's distinguishing asset and it needs a form.

Category breakdown

Not verified means the criterion could not be tested, so it leaves this category’s denominator instead of being scored zero.

  • UI/UX impact18.9 / 26The interface is clean, perhaps too plain, but the information is present and easy to find and the navigation is intuitive. A short table on the homepage would complete it.Suggestion: Add a short table to the homepage; the rest works and needs no change.
  • Fixtures and match experience5.9 / 26The match page carries the score alone, with no scorers. Of the upcoming matches, only the current month’s are shown.Suggestion: Add the scorers and a report to the match page, and publish the whole season’s fixtures.
  • Content and information11.9 / 19Information is generally findable, but the absence of any material on a match played, a written report included, limits the category.Suggestion: Publish a report after every match: it is the one visible gap in the content.
  • Mobile app0.0 / 14The club publishes no application in either store.Suggestion: Start with an application that handles matchday: the ticket, the fixture, the result and the notification.
  • My Account0.0 / 15The homepage carries a sign-in area, but the account belongs to the shop and, most likely, to the eCommerce platform behind it.Suggestion: Move the account onto the club’s domain, so the sign-in on the homepage belongs to the club and not to the shop.
Online shop46.7 / 100No design work has been applied to the shop: it is a list of products.Suggestion: Give the shop a design of its own, beyond the list of products. The store is not part of the total above — it has its own table.

Findings, by severity

  1. MediumStrategic investmentMy Account
MyU is the shop's account, not the club's

The MyU sign-in sits on the club domain, but “Creare cont” points to shop.fcucluj.ro/register and “Ați uitat parola?” to shop.fcucluj.ro/forgot-password, and the page describes itself as an account “în cadrul magazinului” — for faster checkout, stored delivery addresses and order tracking. Tickets are sold through bilete.ro on a third identity.

Fix: Make MyU the club's account and let the shop consume it, rather than the reverse. The header link is already there; what sits behind it belongs to the store.

  2. MediumMedium effortContent and information
Romanian only, with no language option

No language switcher and no second language tree were found, on a club that publishes UEFA Europa League fixtures in its own results filter.

Fix: Translate the club, stadium, ticket and fixture pages. European ties are when this site receives its only international traffic.

  • UI/UX impact9.0 / 26The simplest page in the audit, minimal in design but coherent. It includes a full-width banner promoting the club’s products.Suggestion: Keep it simple, and put information where there is now only a banner.
  • Fixtures and match experience2.0 / 26Only the banner carrying the last result and the table of the next three matches are published; no match has a page of its own.Suggestion: Give every match a page and publish the whole season’s fixtures.
  • Content and information8.0 / 19The news is decently presented but undated, so its currency cannot be verified. The homepage carries the last result and the next three matches, in a minimal form and with little scope to explore further.Suggestion: Date the news and add a way to go further than the homepage.
  • Mobile app0.0 / 14The club publishes no application in either store.Suggestion: Start with an application that handles matchday: the ticket, the fixture, the result and the notification.
  • My Account12.0 / 15The only club with an account of its own. How it is used could not be verified, but its existence is a good sign.Suggestion: Use the account you already have for tickets, the shop and notifications: it is the advantage no other club in the league has.
Online shop12.0 / 100The presentation is unconventional, and the playing shirts are not the products placed first. The Romanian version mixes Hungarian and English.Suggestion: Put the playing shirts first and separate the language versions cleanly. The store is not part of the total above — it has its own table.

Findings, by severity

  1. HighMedium effortUI/UX impact
Unknown URLs redirect instead of returning 404

A nonexistent path answers 302 rather than 404, so a mistyped or expired URL never announces itself as missing.

Fix: Return a real 404 so search engines drop dead URLs rather than logging soft ones.

  2. HighMedium effortUI/UX impact
Both the web server and PHP are years out of support

Responses carry Server: Apache/2.2.15 and X-Powered-By: PHP/7.3.25. Apache 2.2 reached end of life in 2018 and PHP 7.3 in December 2021.

Fix: Upgrade the stack. Neither version has received a security patch in years.

  3. MediumQuick winFixtures and match experience
The league table is filed under news

Standings live at /hirek/tabellak — inside the news section — rather than beside the fixtures and results a supporter is already looking at.

Fix: Move standings into the match section where supporters look for them.

  4. MediumMedium effortMy Account
Tracking fires before any consent request

  • UI/UX impact13.0 / 26The homepage is well built, but the static opening image takes the whole visible area without carrying information. Replacing it with a carousel would improve the experience.Suggestion: Replace the fixed image with a carousel carrying the next match, the last result and the latest story.
  • Fixtures and match experience3.5 / 26The next-match block is confusing and the basic information is laid out without order. A finished match does not show its score, and the crests overlap the text.Suggestion: Reorder the next-match block, show the score of a finished match, and fix the crests overlapping the text.
  • Content and information14.2 / 19The news is carefully written and the dates are current, but the absence of content on matches played limits the category.Suggestion: Publish something after every match; the newsroom already works.

  • My Account0.0 / 15The site does not allow a supporter account to be created.Suggestion: Introduce a club account, used for the site, the shop and the tickets alike.
Online shop80.0 / 100The shop is the strong point: an eye-catching design built around selling shirts, with well-organised categories. The playing kit on sale is last season’s.Suggestion: Update the playing kit to the current season; the rest of the shop is among the best in the league. The store is not part of the total above — it has its own table.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalMedium effortUI/UX impact
A static image takes the whole top of the homepage

The homepage opens on a large fixed image that fills the visible area without carrying any information. The rest of the page begins below it.

Fix: Replace it with a carousel of dynamic content — the next match, the last result, the latest story — so the most valuable space on the site says something every time someone opens it.

  2. HighMedium effortUI/UX impact
430 requests and seven seconds to settle

A desktop load on a fast connection reached network idle after 430 requests and 7.0 seconds — the heaviest and slowest page in this audit. The console also reports the Google Maps JavaScript API being included more than once.

Fix: Cut the third-party payload and load the map once, on the page that needs it. Match day is when this page is asked to work hardest.

Category breakdown

Not verified means the criterion could not be tested, so it leaves this category’s denominator instead of being scored zero.

  • UI/UX impact14.2 / 26The homepage is well built, apart from the table-style menu, which dates it. The next-match counter is well made; the homepage table shows only the top five positions and their points, with no crests, no matches played and no sight of the club’s own position. The mobile version has missing images and cut-off content. Navigation is the weak part: the results page and the upcoming-fixtures page cannot be found, and the menu is confusing.Suggestion: Replace the table-style menu, complete the homepage table with crests, matches played and the club’s own position, and fix the mobile version.
  • Fixtures and match experience3.5 / 26The only information concerns the last match played, and the page loads only after several attempts and with a console error: an opening image cropped badly, the rest text. No other matches played were found, though they most likely exist as articles, and the next match has no page. Matches are treated as articles, with no format of their own.Suggestion: Give matches a format of their own, with a page each, instead of articles.
  • Content and information3.6 / 19The content is static, and the news page takes about 30 seconds to load; the cause appears to be an AddThis widget that blocks everything except the headline. That this error persists indicates the level of maintenance. The table on the homepage is last season’s, and the standings page is the only part kept correctly up to date.Suggestion: Remove the AddThis widget blocking the news page, and point the homepage table at the current season.
  • Mobile app7.0 / 14An iOS application exists and is maintained. Sign-in is ambiguous: it is not clear whether registering confers membership or requires a paid subscription, and some content is conditional on it.Suggestion: Say plainly on the sign-in screen what registering gives and what a paid subscription requires.
  • My Account0.0 / 15The site does not allow a supporter account to be created.Suggestion: Introduce a club account, used for the site, the shop and the tickets alike.
Online shop66.7 / 100The shop is clear and well organised, and personalises a number but not a name.Suggestion: Add name personalisation, not only the number. The store is not part of the total above — it has its own table.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalQuick winContent and information
News pages take 30 seconds to load

A news article stays blank for roughly 30 seconds: the headline renders and the rest of the content waits. The cause appears to be an AddThis widget loaded synchronously, which holds the page until it answers.

Fix: Remove AddThis or load it with defer. The service has been retired anyway, and an article has no reason to wait on it.

  2. CriticalMedium effortMy Account
Three trackers fire before any consent request

GA4, Universal Analytics (UA-139882413) and the Facebook pixel all set cookies on first load. No consent banner or preference control appears at 1440×900 or 390×844.

Fix: Add consent management and gate all three behind it.

  3. HighQuick winFixtures and match experience
The homepage standings show last season

The table on the entry page lists U. Craiova on 60 points, Rapid 56 and U. Cluj 54 — a completed season. Seven rounds of 2026-2027 have been played, and the club’s own standings page defaults correctly to the current season.

Fix: Point the homepage widget at the same season the standings page already uses. The right data is one query away.

Replacing it with a smaller carousel would change how the site is perceived.Suggestion: Replace the video with a carousel carrying the next match, the last result and the latest story.
  • Fixtures and match experience7.1 / 26Information on a match played is reduced to the final score and the half-time score. The upcoming-fixtures page is properly made, and the results are published on the same page.Suggestion: Add line-ups, scorers and a report to the matches played.
  • Content and information5.9 / 19The table is empty, every value zero, and the last match, a 5-1 win, is published as a sequence of 106 images with no description, which makes the page hard to work through.Suggestion: Fill the table, and replace the gallery of 106 images with a report and a selection of photographs.
  • Mobile app0.0 / 14The club publishes no application in either store.Suggestion: Start with an application that handles matchday: the ticket, the fixture, the result and the notification.

Findings, by severity

  1. HighMedium effortFixtures and match experience
The league table is a Sofascore widget that sends the visitor away

The standings on the site are not the club’s: they are an embedded Sofascore widget, which sits oddly against the rest of the page and carries its own button through to Sofascore’s site.

Fix: Publish the table from your own data. A borrowed table sends a supporter exactly where the club can no longer see them.

The problem appears on scrolling: the crest does not reduce into a sticky header. Hiding the menu on the way down and showing a compact version on the way up would resolve it.Suggestion: Reduce the crest into a sticky header on the way down, and free the centre of the homepage for information.
  • Fixtures and match experience0.0 / 26One match, finished two months ago, has a page of its own, and its detail view answers with a 404. The remaining matches have no page.Suggestion: Fix the match page that returns a 404 and give every match a page of its own.

Fix: Publish a season fixture list and a results archive. The per-match articles are good; they need a spine to hang on.

  3. HighQuick winFixtures and match experience

/clasament-sezonul-2026-2027/ shows every club on one match played and three points or fewer, in a season where six rounds have been completed.

  2. HighMedium effortUI/UX impact
Mistyped URLs quietly serve unrelated articles from 2016

    /clasament-liga-1/, /lot/ and /jucatori/ each return 200 with a full page — respectively a 2016 post, a 2018 squad announcement and a 2025 loan round-up — instead of 404. The real pages are /clasament/, /echipa-principala/ and /rezultate-meciuri/, and they are current and complete.

Fix: Turn off the near-match slug fallback. A wrong URL that answers 200 with old content is worse than a 404: the supporter believes what they are reading, and search engines index it.

  3. CriticalMedium effortMobile app
The app is published, but it does not work

CFR1907 CLUJ is listed on the App Store with a last update of 30 June 2020, and an Android listing is linked alongside it. Once installed, the application presents no data at all, only server errors.

Fix: Retire it or rebuild it. A published app that answers only with server errors does more damage than no app at all: a supporter downloads it, opens it once, and leaves.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalMedium effortFixtures and match experience
There is no fixtures, results or standings section

The navigation offers Acasă, Echipa, FanShop, Club, Academia, Abonamente and Contact. There is no fixture list, no results page and no league table anywhere on the site; the homepage shows only the most recent scoreline, 1-1 against Dinamo.

Fix: Publish fixtures, results and the table. This is the reason most supporters open a club site.

  2. CriticalMedium effortMy Account
Tracking fires before any consent request

Google Analytics sets its cookies on first load. No consent banner or preference control appears at 1440×900 or 390×844.

Fix: Add consent management and gate the tags behind it.

  3. MediumMedium effortUI/UX impact
The server announces an end-of-life PHP version

Responses carry x-powered-by: PHP/7.4.33, a release that stopped receiving security support in November 2022.

Fix: Upgrade PHP and stop advertising the version in response headers.

  4. MediumMedium effortUI/UX impact
The homepage carries almost no content

The entry page carries 13 images and two h2 elements in total: a result, a photo carousel and a footer. Nothing tells a supporter when the club plays next.

Fix: Give the entry page the fixture, the result and the table. Thirteen images is not a club's front door.

  • UI/UX impact5.0 / 26The homepage carries no information: a banner that appears static and two large images that require scrolling before the subject is clear. The news is illustrated with very large, pixelated images and the text is sparse. Pages take about ten seconds to open.Suggestion: Put information at the top of the page, cut the images in the news back, and deal with the ten-second load.
  • Fixtures and match experience3.0 / 26There is a match page, but only for the next fixture, and it is empty. The results list appears to be last season’s.Suggestion: Fill the next match’s page and bring the results list up to the current season.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalQuick winFixtures and match experience
The homepage standings are from another division

The standings block on the entry page is led by AFK Csikszereda on 44 points, Steaua București on 38 and FC Metaloglobus on 35 — a completed Liga 2 season. FC Argeș plays in the Superliga, where seven rounds have been played.

Fix: Point the widget at the club's current competition.

  2. MediumMedium effortFixtures and match experience
    No upcoming fixtures anywhere

“Clasamente și rezultate” leads to a 591-row historical archive of past seasons. No upcoming fixture appears anywhere on the site.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalQuick winFixtures and match experience
The fixtures page is an abandoned blog post from 2023

/program/ renders a WordPress post dated 13/03/2023, titled “PROGRAM”, with no fixtures, a “Leave a comment” form and a comment count of zero.

Fix: Replace it with a real fixture list. The homepage already knows the next match and the last result, so the data exists — it simply is not published anywhere a supporter can browse.

  2. CriticalMedium effortFixtures and match experience
No match has a page of its own

A match played has no page at all: no line-up, no score, no report. Results are not published anywhere as a list.

Fix: Give every match its own page and publish the results as a list. Or, at the very least, put the data somewhere a supporter can read through it.

  3. HighQuick winUI/UX impact
Tickets on sale for a match played three days ago

The ticket block on the homepage points at a match that finished three days ago. It is the first thing a supporter who came to buy sees.

Fix: Drive the ticket block from the real schedule, so it clears itself at the final whistle.

  4. HighMedium effortFixtures and match experience
No league table anywhere on the site

No standings page appears in the navigation, the footer or the top-level URL space.

Fix: Publish the table. It is the second most requested page on a club site after the fixture.

  5. MediumQuick winUI/UX impact
Unknown URLs redirect to the homepage

A nonexistent path answers 301 → the homepage rather than 404, so a mistyped or expired URL never announces itself as missing.

Fix: Return a real 404 with a branded page. Redirecting to the homepage teaches search engines that every dead URL is a duplicate of the front page.

  6. MediumMedium effortUI/UX impact
The server announces an end-of-life PHP version

Responses carry x-powered-by: PHP/7.4.33, a release that stopped receiving security support in November 2022. No HSTS, Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options or Referrer-Policy header is set.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalStrategic investmentUI/UX impact
The site does not look like a football club’s

The homepage says nothing about the club and does not look like a football club’s — it brings a utility company to mind sooner. Nothing a supporter sees first points at the team.

Fix: Rebuild the experience starting from the homepage: a club’s visual identity, information in some order of importance, and sections that actually lead somewhere.

  2. CriticalStrategic investmentOnline shop
    There is no online shop

The club sells nothing online. The only reference is to the physical shop, illustrated with a photograph taken from the street.

Fix: Open an online shop. It is the one category where the club has nothing at all to show, and the one that brings money in directly.

  3. HighMedium effortUI/UX impact
An enormous image at the top of the page

The top of the homepage is taken up by a large image that carries no information and pushes everything else down.

Fix: Replace it with a carousel of dynamic content — the next match, the last result, the latest story — so the most valuable space on the site says something every time someone opens it.

  4. HighQuick winFixtures and match experience
The league table is not kept up to date

The standings are not current, in a fixtures section that does publish a schedule and results.

Fix: Update the table and feed it from the same source as the schedule and the results.

  5. HighMedium effortUI/UX impact
Navigation does not take a supporter where they want to go

Fixtures and results for the first team sit on a single page, and where club information should be there is a plain calendar widget.

Fix: Separate the schedule from the results, give each match its own page, and remove the widgets that carry no information.

In mid-season, no upcoming match appears on it.Suggestion: Clear the homepage: fewer blocks, images of your own on the news, and the next match in plain sight.
  • Fixtures and match experience0.0 / 26No match has a page of its own. The only information is in the tables, which do not go beyond the score.Suggestion: Give every match a page with line-ups, scorers and a report, not just a row in a table.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalMedium effortFixtures and match experience
The next match module is empty in mid-season

The homepage rail headed “Meciul următor” reads “Nici un meci în viitorul apropiat” on 1 September 2026, while the club’s own league table on the same screen shows six rounds played. bilete.ucv1948.ro says “Evenimente disponibile” and lists none.

Fix: Connect the next-fixture module and the ticket site to the same fixture list the results page already holds, so the match and its ticket appear together.

  2. CriticalMedium effortMy Account
Analytics and the Facebook pixel fire before consent

GA4, Universal Analytics (UA-43563947) and the Facebook pixel all set cookies on first load. The banner offers only “De acord” and states that continuing to browse constitutes agreement — implied consent, with no reject and no preference control.

Fix: Gate all non-essential tags behind an explicit opt-in with a reject option, and retire Universal Analytics, which stopped collecting in 2023.

  3. HighQuick winFixtures and match experience
The fixtures page opens on a season that ended in 2025

/meciuri renders “Meciuri încheiate în sezonul 2024-2025” by default, listing matches up to May 2025, even though its own season selector offers 2025-2026 and 2026-2027.

Fix: Default the page to the current season. The data is already there — only the initial selection is wrong.

  4. HighQuick winMobile app
There is no iOS app, and the club still links to one

apps.apple.com/ro/app/u-craiova/id6459021502, linked from the club's own app page, returns 404. An iTunes lookup for that id returns nothing in the Romanian or US storefronts, and a name search for “U Craiova” returns only an unrelated bus app. Android is the only platform: the Play listing for com.sportsmp.ucraiova is live, with an install button, last updated 18 September 2024.

Fix: Remove the dead link today. Then decide whether the app is a product or not — Android-only and two years untouched serves neither half of the supporter base well.

  5. HighMedium effortMobile app
The Android app has not been updated in two years

The Google Play listing for com.sportsmp.ucraiova reads “Ultima actualizare 18 sept. 2024”.

Fix: Either resource the app properly — match push, wallet tickets, one account with the website — or retire it. An app two years stale advertises neglect on the supporter’s home screen.

  6. HighStrategic investmentOnline shop
Five domains, four identities, no shared account

ucv1948.ro, bilete.ucv1948.ro, abonamente.ucv1948.ro, shop.ucv1948.ro and u-craiova.ro each present differently, and the supporter account lives only on the last of them.

Fix: Unify header, footer and sign-in across the five. The season-ticket and store journeys are strong enough to deserve one continuous identity.

  7. MediumQuick winUI/UX impact
Unknown URLs redirect to the homepage instead of returning 404

A nonexistent path answers 302 → /home. A styled 404 page does exist — robots.txt returns it — so the site has the page and does not use it.

Fix: Return a real 404 with the branded page already built, so search engines drop dead URLs rather than logging soft 404s.

  8. MediumQuick winUI/UX impact
An insecure frame on a secure page

The homepage requests http://www.youtube.com/embed/… over plain HTTP, and the browser console reports it as blocked mixed content.

Fix: Switch the embed to https. The video simply does not render for visitors today.

Findings, by severity

  1. CriticalMedium effortUI/UX impact
Most of the site redirects to one page

21 of the 29 internal destinations linked from the entry page answer with a 302 to /ro/club/ — news, squad, results, table, staff, academy, history, FCSB TV, video, photos, contact and legal terms. Reproduced in a real browser with a session cookie and a same-site referer, so it is not bot handling.

Fix: Diagnose the routing or CMS publication state before anything else on this list. Nothing else can be measured until pages resolve.

  2. CriticalQuick winOnline shop
Theme placeholder content live on the ticketing domain

bilete-fcsb.ro publishes its template's demo articles — “The team will make a small vacation to the Caribbean”, dated June 12th 2018, and “Jenny Jackson won't be able to play the next game” — alongside lorem ipsum, in English.

Fix: Delete or replace the demo module today. It is content, not code, and it sits on the domain that asks for card details.

  3. CriticalMedium effortMy Account
Tracking fires before consent, and no policy is reachable

The Facebook pixel sets _fbp on first load of fcsb.ro. No cookie banner appears at 1440×900 or 390×844, and /ro/dispozitii-legale/ redirects away, so the site serves no privacy policy or terms.

Fix: Add consent management, gate the pixel behind it, restore the legal pages, and untick the pre-selected marketing toggles on bilete-fcsb.ro.

  4. CriticalStrategic investmentFixtures and match experience
No fixtures, results or league table anywhere

The heaviest category in the framework scores 0 of 65 criterion points. Every route that would carry match information redirects to the club page.

Fix: Build a match centre fed by a data source, with each fixture's own ticket link attached to it.

  5. HighStrategic investmentMy Account
No supporter identity of any kind

No account, newsletter, membership, notification, poll or competition on any page that returns 200. The only login in the estate belongs to the ticketing provider.

Fix: Introduce one supporter account across site, tickets and store — starting with newsletter capture, which needs no platform work.

  6. HighQuick winContent and information
Content dated to 2020 and to 2024

The stadium page still says Arena Națională “va găzdui 4 partide la UEFA EURO 2020, care se va desfășura în iunie 2020”. The sidebar promotes “Echipament FCSB 2023 - 2024” and “Bilete online meciuri acasa 2023 - 2024”. No page carries a publication date.

Fix: Rewrite the stadium page with address, transport and access details, and refresh the sidebar promotions to the current season.

  7. HighQuick winUI/UX impact
Site search cannot return a result

The Google Custom Search box posts to /ro/cauta/, and that page redirects to /ro/club/. A query never reaches results.

Fix: Restore the results route, or remove the search box until it works — a search that cannot answer is worse than none.

  8. MediumQuick winUI/UX impact
Default Apache 404, and the custom error page is itself broken

A missing URL returns Apache's stock 404, which reports: “Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.” robots.txt returns the same page.

Fix: Ship a branded 404 with navigation and search, and repair the ErrorDocument directive.

  9. MediumStrategic investmentOnline shop

fcsb.ro, bilete-fcsb.ro and shop.fcsb.ro differ in layout, palette and account system, with no single sign-on. The club-site link to ticketing is still written as http:// in the markup.

Fix: Unify header, footer and account across the three, even before any platform consolidation.

The store, on its own

For most clubs the store is a different website — a different domain, usually a different vendor, sometimes a retailer the club does not own. So it is scored on its own 100 points here, and the five categories a club’s own site owns are re-weighted to 100 between themselves. The league average is 40.4 out of 100, and the best is FCSB on 94.0.

How the score is built

5 categories score the club’s own site, weighted to a hundred points between them. The weights are the argument: what a supporter actually came to do — judge the club at a glance, follow the match, finish a task — is worth more than what happens to be easy to measure. The store is the sixth, and it has a table of its own.

Findings are kept apart: what was observed directly, what was measured, what is genuinely missing, and what could not be tested. Nothing is called missing until it has been looked for in the navigation, the footer, the search and the pages where it belongs. A criterion that could not be tested is marked Not verified and leaves the denominator — it is never counted as a zero, because a club should not be marked down for what the audit could not reach.

UI/UX impact

26

What a supporter sees and what they can then do: hierarchy, typography, imagery, labels and brand presence at a glance, and what it takes to finish a task afterwards — the next home match, a ticket, a player, the shop. Menu clarity, search, depth and dead ends belong here too, because a supporter experiences look and journey as one impression of the club, not two.

Fixtures and match experience

26

Upcoming fixtures, results, the table, lineups and reports — and whether they are native and club-branded or a third-party widget dropped into a page.

Content and information

19

Whether the squad, the fixtures, the stadium and the contact details are current, consistent and findable — and whether anything on the site was last true two seasons ago.

Mobile app

14

Whether the club has a native app at all, whether anyone still updates it, and whether it does the things only an owned home-screen surface can — push on a goal, the ticket in the wallet, one account shared with the website.

My Account

15

Whether a supporter can have an account with the club at all: one sign-in shared across site, tickets and store, a membership and digital card, saved tickets and order history, notifications and preferences, and data collected with permission rather than without it.

What the table says

All 16 clubs, walked page by page rather than measured from a distance. The best site in Romania’s top flight is Oțelul Galați on 37.5 of 100, and it sits in the Critical band with the other fifteen. The league averages 19.3 for the site a club owns and 40.4 for the shop beside it. Its weakest column is Mobile app, at 3% of what was available to it.

Every club in the league is Critical.
Sixteen sites, sixteen Critical grades. The best of them — Oțelul Galați on 37.5 — would have to nearly double to reach the bottom of Acceptable, and the worst, FCSB on 1.2, is a website that redirects away from itself. The distance from first to last is real, but it is a distance between degrees of the same failure. No supporter in the country is served well by their club online.
The match is the worst-served thing on a football club’s website.
Fixtures, results and the table are the heaviest column in the framework, and the league scores 10% of it, with five clubs scoring nothing there at all. Most of the rest publish a score and stop: no line-up, no report, no page for the match just played, and at several clubs no way to find out when the next one is. The single thing every visitor came for is the thing least often finished.
Fifteen of sixteen clubs do not know who their supporters are.
One club in the country — FK Csíkszereda — has a login of its own. The rest have none, or have one that belongs to a shop and registers on a shop’s terms, and fifteen of them have no app on any store. A club with neither cannot name a single person who visits it, cannot reach them on a matchday, and starts every season from nothing. My Account averages 5% and mobile 3%: not scores so much as absences.
The shops are twice as good as the clubs.
The store averages 40.4 against 19.3 for the sites they sit beside — and the gap is widest exactly where the site is worst. FCSB scores 1.2 for its website and 94.0 for its shop. Dinamo București is barely different. The craft exists in Romanian football, and it is spent where the money arrives this week rather than where the relationship is built. At three clubs — FC Argeș, FC Botoșani, FC Voluntari — there is no shop at all.
The gap is operational, not financial.
Nothing separating the top of this table from the bottom costs a transfer fee. It is publishing without waiting on a developer, a match page that ends when the match does, an account the club owns rather than rents, an app somebody updates, a consent banner that is answered before the trackers fire. Those are platform decisions, made once — which is why a club at the bottom of this table could pass the ones above it inside a season.

Want your club's own score?

We run this framework against a single club and hand back the full report: the scorecard, the supporter-task results, every finding with its evidence and severity, and a roadmap in priority order.

The audits were carried out between 1 and 8 September 2026. Every club was scored against the same framework, from evidence observed on its own live site, which makes the scores comparable with each other and with nothing else. Criteria that could not be tested are excluded from a category's total rather than scored zero. A site changed since then still carries the score it earned here.
